Taobuk, the 16 June the twelfth edition starts

Truth is the central theme of the XII edition of Taobuk, the International Book Festival of Taormina. The demonstration, expected from 16 al 20 among the most important sector events in Italy, will bring giants of contemporary fiction to Taormina, Paul Auster and Michel Houellebecq, and scientists like the Nobel Prize winner for Physics Giorgio Parisi. Among the protagonists of this edition also the contemporary artist Emilio Isgrò, who made the Erasure Theory a “form of creative destruction”. The Sicilian master, to which the Taobuk Award will be awarded, will be in the center of Out of frame, unpublished format articulated between exhibitions, multidisciplinary meetings and initiatives. And it will realize, exclusively for Taobuk, an installation for the centenary of the death of Giovanni Verga, father of Verismo.
GALA EVENING
The gala evening, which will close the Festival, is scheduled for Saturday 18 June in the setting of the Ancient Theater of Taormina and will be broadcast by RAI. Award winner at the Taobuk Awards 2022 for literary excellence will be the writers Paul Auster and Michel Houellebecq, also protagonists of two scheduled appointments. Then, the recognition of the Taobuk Awards will also go to the Nobel Prize for Physics Giorgio Parisi, to director Roberto Andò, to the actor Toni Servillo and the artist Emilio Isgrò. During the evening the singer Malika Ayane will alternate on stage, la soprano Olga Peretyatko, the violinist Alessandro Quarta and Jacopo Tissi, former principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, with the Symphony Orchestra of the Massimo Bellini Theater in Catania.
THE THEME OF TAOBUK
“Truth, the theme chosen for this twelfth edition, it is a word that is neither plural nor singular: it is not dogmatic, but it is filled with doubt - explains Antonella Ferrara, creator and artistic director of Taobuk – tells a research that well expresses the contradictions of our time: a necessary effort, which is located at the very root of knowledge. Heraclitus argued that "nature loves to hide". Here the festival goes to the bottom, and from literature it crosses and intersects other fields, arts and sciences, to contemplate broader points of view on the world. The richness and disruptive strength of Taobuk is represented precisely by the intersection of disciplines, which make it a great event with an open look on the world. TAOBUK'S GUESTS
Lots of personalities expected in this edition of Taobuk. among the guests, the crime writer and screenwriter Petros Markarīs, with the latest investigation by Commissioner Charitos; the French author Maylis De Kerangal with a preview of hers Canoe (Feltrinelli). Then Ingo Schulze, among the best German writers of his generation. Andrée and Amin Maalouf with a confrontation between cultures and peoples that starts from the culinary art. Erotic love sung by the Strega award-winning author 2016 Edoardo Albinati and the consoling one known in pain by Nicola Gardini. The language of social media will be analyzed with the philosopher Telmo Pievani. We will try to understand with Maurizio Ferraris what remains in the post-truth era and whether the truth can be predicted with Salvatore Rossi. Up to researching the key and the priorities of our time with the sociologist Domenico De Masi. The "anxious triumph" of capitalism will be retraced with the historian Donald Sassoon and the relationship between space and time will be explored in depth with Giacomo Marramao. THE THEME OF WAR
The war in Ukraine is, Also, a conflict between opposing "truths" in a debate that is increasingly polarized and immersed in the flow of information. And so, geopolitics will be the protagonist of a series of meetings with the support of the University of Messina, in collaboration with the International Affairs Institute.
