Catania Pride 2022, the 2 July, the demonstration for LGBTQ + rights returns

And the 2 July the date of Catania Pride 2022. For months, the Organizing Committee has been preparing the expected event that, this year, will see the presence of a godmother, a vip guest, whose identity has not yet been revealed. Even the details on the political theme and the route of the march have not yet been disclosed. On the same day the pride will also be held in Bari, Napoli, Milan and Sassari. From June, Pride month, until September they will be 43 the cities in Italy where the processions will take place.

JUNE MONTH OF PRIDE

The so-called Stonewall riots of the 1969, in New York, diedero impulso al movimento lgbtq+ negli Stati Uniti e nel mondo. Nella notte tra il 28 ed il 29 giugno la polizia fece irruzione in uno dei locali gay più noti della Grande Mela, lo Stonewall Inn, nel Greenwich Village. Durante la retata diversi gay vennero picchiati, come spesso accadeva. Questa volta però la folla reagì, dando vita a scontri durati per alcuni giorni. L’episodio segnò l’inizio del movimento di protesta gay che portò, il mese successivo, alla nascita negli Usa del Fronte di Liberazione Gay. Nello stesso anno iniziative simili si registrarono in altri Paesi occidentali.

GAY PRIDE

Il Pride, che oggi si celebra in molti Paesi del mondo, è un momento in cui si celebra l’orgoglio delle persone gay, bisessuali, transessuali, asessuali, intersessuali e queer e della comunità lgbtq+.
