Taormina, Isola Bella reopened to the public

The periodic ordinary and extraordinary maintenance works have been completed, has reopened Isola Bella to the public, site of historical interest, cultural and naturalistic managed by Naxos Archaeological Park Taormina.

Surrounded by the sea and connected to the mainland by a thin isthmus of land, Isola Bella is a very delicate site that needs complex maintenance work every year. Works that mainly concern the historic Villa Bosurgi, example of ante-litteram bio-architecture for the conformation of pavilions camouflaged between the natural recesses of the rocks and the luxuriant botanical park. The one just concluded mainly concerned the historic dock where the boats of the guests or the food supplies for the long stays of the Bosurgi family landed. E’ the third extraordinary intervention by the Park. The two floors of the main building have already been renovated, the terraces jutting out over the sea, the indoor and outdoor swimming pool and the paths surrounded by greenery.

Isola Bella is therefore fully usable again for visits by tourists and enthusiasts every day, give her 9 at 19. To visit: the labyrinth of paths in the greenery, the secret doors hinged into the rock, the small museum with the section of underwater archeology finds recovered in the bay and the documentary exhibition on the history of the island from the Grand Tour to Lady Florence Trevelyan, from the Bosurgi to the movie sets.
