Messina, at MuMe an exhibition in the name of Caravaggio

It will remain open to the public until 14 October at MuMe, Regional museum, of Messina shows it in the sign of Caravaggio: “Following Caravaggio with a vigorous and colorful manner”. The exhibition brings together numerous works from the rich heritage of museums and churches in Sicily.
Worth noting is a room entirely dedicated to the Messina outsider Giovan Simone Comandé. They introduce themselves, in the end, some works united by the link with the Sicilian Caravaggio movement or with Caravaggio himself.

SHOW CARAVAGGIO

The exhibition is an exceptional event that brings together the works of great contemporary artists of the master and of followers who during the seventeenth century drew inspiration from Caravaggio's novelties, by Deodato Guinaccia, to Filippo Paladini, to Giovan Simone Comandè, with large rooms dedicated to Mario Minniti and Alonzo Rodriguez, Pietro d'Asaro and the Flemings. The paintings reveal part of the lesser-known collection of the Messina museum deposits and have the honor of loans from Palazzo Abatellis in Palermo, from the Civic Museum of Castello Ursino in Catania, from numerous Sicilian churches and private collections. The curation of the exhibition is signed by Elena Ascenti, Giovanna Famà, Alessandra Migliorato and Donatella Spagnolo.

The MuMe it already houses two works by Michelangelo Merisi (1571-1610), or Caravaggio: "The Raising of Lazarus" and "The Adoration of the Shepherds".

The exhibition will be visible every day from 9 at 19 (last admission at 18) and on public holidays from 9 at 13.30 (last entry 12.30). The cost is five euros (reduced three euros).
By car or train you can reach the MuMe of Messina from Villa Maria in an hour. The train station is a few meters from the property.
