Catania, the Teatro Massimo Bellini stages La traviata
The Massimo Bellini Theatre of Catania stages Verdi's "La traviata" in the staging created by the brilliant set designer Josef Svoboda for the Sferisterio of Macerata. “La traviata of mirrors”, how it is defined, arrives in Catania from 1 to 9 December, at the end of the season of operas and ballets 2023. In the foreground the Orchestra and Choir of the Etna opera company which once again hosts renowned artists. On the podium José Cura, conductor as well as tenor of international stature. Choir master Luigi Petrozziello. Costumes by Giancarlo Colis, choreography by Valentina Escobar, lights by Brockhaus himself. Installation by the Pergolesi Spontini Foundation of Jesi.
IT CAST
In the title role the soprano Daniela Schillaci and in that of Alfredo the tenor Giorgio Misseri. Baritone Franco Vassallo plays Giorgio Germont. In the performances they will alternate respectively with the soprano Evgeniya Vukkert, the tenor Matteo Mezzaro and the baritone Francesco Landolfi.
Elena Belfiore and Alessandra Della Croce also take turns in the roles (Flora Bervoix), Sonia Fortunato and Albane Carrère (Annina). Massimiliano Chiarolla completes the cast (Gaston), Gianluca Lentini (Baron Douphol), Dario Giorgiole (Il marchese d’Obigny), Gaetano Triscari (Dr. Grenvil), Francesco Napoleoni (Giuseppe), Daniele Bartolini and Alessandro Martinello (commission agent), Alessandro Martinello and / Massimiliano Bruno (domestic).

Everything's ready, so, at the Bellini to once again relive the immortal love story of Violetta and Alfredo, the melodrama in three acts set to music by Verdi with a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, taken in turn from the drama La Dame aux camélias by Alexandre Dumas fils.
La traviata concludes, after Rigoletto and Il Trovatore, the so-called “popular trilogy”.
