THE THEME AND GUESTS OF TAOBUK 2024

The production of the writers who this year will receive the Taobuk Award for Literary Excellence revolves around identity, starting from the Norwegian playwright and narrator Jon Fosse, aimed at searching for the supreme meaning of existence, conducted in masterpieces such as Melancholia and the book-world Septology, which earned him the Nobel 2023. Fosse is the singer of the destiny common to every creature, in which the individual identities are recomposed by overwriting one another, since they are comparable and cyclical. In the same way his theater becomes a representation of the unspeakable, point of transition between the character and the identity he expresses.

Jonathan Safran Foer has also dedicated in-depth attention to the topic. In Everything is illuminated in fact it highlights one research of its roots, along a biographical path in which pain and love, past and present continually intersect. The same desire to explore family relationships, on which much of our identity depends, is captured in another work of extraordinary success, Very loud and incredibly closeO, where definitive pacification is achieved through the attempt to hold together the experience of the nucleus.

Yasmina Reza has, for his part, explored identity in interpersonal relationships thanks to a vitality of writing that sees her as a narrator, playwright and film screenwriter, capable of exploring the human condition without censorship, highlighting it in its chiaroscuro and its ambiguities. Just mention it Happy are the happy e The god of slaughter, on which the film was based Carnage per la regia di Roman Polanski.

THE TAOBUK AWARD FOR THE VISUAL ARTS

The Taobuk Award for visual arts was awarded to Marina Abramovic who, with his performing art, he identified the sense of identity in the field of human relations precisely in the ability and willingness to rely on each other, in an interaction that is continuous self-rediscovery. As in the famous performances Rest Energy, Imponderabilia O The artist is present O Rhythm 0, true artistic debut organized at the Studio Morra in Naples in 1974.

And among the previews of Taobuk 2024 attention still stands out to three personalities of twentieth-century culture who also stood out for having contributed in different ways to the emancipation and configuration of female identity: the writers Sibilla Aleramo and Goliarda Sapienza, and the painter Carla Accardi.
