Etna Comics, large open-air sculpture exhibition by Igor Mitoraj
A large open-air sculptural exhibition by Igor Mitoraj, which will involve some of the most extraordinary and evocative places in Sicily, it will be open to visitors until 31 October 2025. From the 27 monumental works that make up the exhibition itinerary, 25 they can be admired inside the Neapolis archaeological park in Syracuse. It will instead rise to 1700 meters above Etna the bronze work of “Teseo Screpolato” and in front of the Maniace Castle in Ortigia the winged sculpture “Ikaria”.
The works, made between 1993 and the 2014 in bronze, cast iron, travertine and resin, they integrate with the places that welcome them. Mitoraj's style and his poetics manifest themselves in harmony and continuity with the models of the classical and Roman tradition, dialoguing, at the same time, with nature.
The archaeological area and the Mitoraj exhibition can be visited for the first time with the single entrance ticket of 16,50 euro. Opening hours are from 8.30 at 19.30 with ticket purchases until 18.00.
The exhibition is promoted by Syracuse Eloro archaeological park, Villa del Tellaro and Akrai, produced by Atelier Mitoraj, in collaboration with Mediatica and Tate, with the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, of the Sicilian Region, Department of Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, Department of Territory and Environment. The Department of Agriculture also collaborates, with the Etna Park, with the State Forestry Department, the Municipalities of Ragalna and Syracuse.
